Q: What is Pick’em?
A: Pick’em is a game where players try to pick the winners of different sporting events. The goal is to pick as many winners as possible in different match-ups. As the player picks winners he or she accumulates points. The player with the most points at the end of the season wins. Play Pick'em Public leagues will use the Ultimate Pick'em game. Private league managers will be able to chose between 3 game options: quick and easy (1 point per correct pick), certainty points (players assign points to games based on how certain the player is in the outcome) and Ultimate Pick'em (which uses certainty points and a "double down" option).

Q: What are Certainty Points?
A: Points players place on the outcome of a game. The more certain you are that you picked correctly the higher the certainty points should be. Certainty point values can only be used once per block of games. For example once a player has placed 20 points on a game the next highest he can use is 19.

Q: What is Ultimate Pick'em?
A: Ultimate Pick’em is a sports pick game where game players attempt to earn points by picking the correct outcome of a particular sporting event. The game differs from normal sports pick’em games in that it has incorporated a “double down” option which allows players to double their points using the spread system.
Each week players will be able to pick the outcome of the games selected by PlayPickem.com, for the particular sporting event chosen by the players. The goal is to attain as many points as possible by correctly predicting the outcome of each of that week’s selected games.

Q: How do I play Ultimate Pick'em?
A: Each player picks the team the player believes is going to win each game. Then the player assigns certainty points to that team based on the level of certainty of that team winning. Certainty points can only be used once. The player may then choose to "double-down" by wagering his certainty points using the spread.

Q: What is the "double-down" option for Ultimate Pick'em?
A: Each game is given a spread. The spread is how many points the Favorite team is picked to beat the Underdog by. When a player chooses to "double-down" he is saying that the team he picked will cover or beat the spread.
If the player picks the Favorite and chooses to double-down:
1. If the Favorite wins and covers the spread then the player receives double points.
2. If the Favorite wins but does not cover the spread then the player receives 0 points.
3. If the Favorite loses then the player loses the wagered points.
If the player picks the Underdog and chooses to double-down:
1. If the Underdog wins then the player receives double points.
2. If the Underdog loses, but beats the spread then the player receives 0 points.
3. If the Underdog loses and does not beat the spread then the player loses the wagered points.

Q: What happens if a game is cancelled after players have made their picks?
A: It depends on the sport. In baseball, since we use the quick and easy system, the game will simply be deleted. In football and basketball, however, we will leave the game open until it is played but it will be logged in for the original week (however, it will not change the winners for that week, or the winners for the new week). If it is never played the game will be deleted, so it will behoove players to put low points on a cancelled game as soon as they hear it is cancelled.

Q: Do I have to make picks for my private and public leagues seperately?
A: No. If you make your picks in the public league and then hit the submit button, you will be given an opportunity to export those picks to your private leagues. Just check the box for the private leagues you want to export to and hit "export." But remember, you can only export from the public to the private league and only after you submit your picks to the public league. The export feature closes as soon as the first game of that block begins. After the first game begins you must manually make your changes to the private leagues and public leagues seperately.

Q: What if I’m a sports novice?
A: The game is fun whether you’re really into sports or just have a passing interest. And in my experience, playing a pick’em game makes sports even more exciting, because games you previously wouldn’t have an interest in, you now have someone to root for.
